I’ve read that you’re a self-taught musician and was wondering if it any point you had any other musicians act like mentors as you developed your playing over the years or if that was just the result of a lot of experimentation? Also, were there any drummers when you first started out that you used as a guide or inspiration?

It was a result of listening to a whole variety of players and then experimenting. The seventies was a good decade for drumming. There’s a certain book by Anthony Reynolds due to be published this year through Burning Shed which will touch on this so I feel I ought to leave it to him to put that out there.
